Once all of a facilities HID® Global VertX® or EDGE EVO® network controllers have been successfully linked to a Limelight XE server, the next task is configuring the hardware. In this tutorial we'll cover both VertX® and EDGE EVO® product families along with the many properties and capabilities of each.
Prerequisites
If you have not yet established a connection to between all the network controllers and Limelight, please see Part 1 of this tutorial - Connecting HID Global VertX® or EDGE EVO® Controllers to Limelight XE™.
HID EDGE Network Controllers
The HID® Global EDGE EVO® family of network controllers utilizes Power over Ethernet (PoE) to drive both the controller and readers with limited power to handle door-strikes. They can run stand-alone (i.e. no central station connection such as Limelight XE) or be part of a network of controllers. For more information on the HID® Global EDGE EVO® family, see EDGE EVO® Controllers and Readers.
Limelight XE™ directly supports any EDGE EVO® product connected to it via the HID Global VertX® / EDGE EVO® driver. When an EDGE device connects to the driver, all the components connected to it are enumerated and can be viewed in the Limelight XE console. To view the components, open the console, log into the Limelight XE™ server with administrative credentials. Once logged in, click the Components tab and on the left tree view navigate to Equipment Management / HID Global EDGE / VertX Connection Manager. All of the connected network controllers will appear as children of this node. Initially, all EDGE EVO products will appear using their default product name followed by the Ethernet MAC address (see the example below).
As you can see in the image above, the network controller has an internal bus called the Hi-O Bus Controller - a proprietary internal network based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus physical layer. All peripherals are connected to this bus including option I/O modules. The Hi-O Bus Controller object has no configurable properties (it provides a count of connected Hi-O compatible devices - internal and external). Other modules have a multitude of configuration options. The EDGE EVO® EH400 Network Controller shown above has 2 devices connected - a door control module and an RFID reader. To access each device's properties, select the device in the components view on the left and click the Properties tab in the right view. For example, the Door Module and EWM Hi-O Reader above have these properties (see below).

For a more detailed understanding of each of these properties, please see the HID EDGE EVO® Controller reference document.
